Criteria for Diplomate from the academe

  1. Must be a life member of the Philippine Society for Microbiology, Inc.
  2. Must be of good moral character.
  3. Must be qualified either as registered microbiologist or specialist microbiologist
  4. Must possess at least an MS degree in microbiology or in a related field
  5. Must have at least ten (10) years of experience in teaching, research and/or practice in microbiology
  6. Must have at least five (5) publications, of which at least two (2) are refereed. Senior authorship in at least one (1) of the two refereed publications is required.
  7. Must have garnered two (2) national/international professional awards in the field of microbiology. For awards that are ranked, only first placers are considered. University awards are not categorized as national awards. Five (5) publications in ISI-indexed journals can be used to replace one of the required national/international awards. These are in addition to the required number of publications.
  8. Must have attended at least three (3) PSM annual conventions in the last five (5) years. One of the three required PSM annual convention attendance can be replaced by attendance in two cluster symposia or two regional symposia or conventions
  9. Must be nominated by a PAM member in the criteria in the accreditation program for diplomate .

Criteria for Diplomate from the industry

  1. Must be a life member of the Philippine Society for Microbiology, Inc.
  2. Must be of good moral character
  3. Must be qualified either as registered microbiologist or specialist microbiologist
  4. Must possess at least an MS degree in microbiology or in a related field.
  5. Must have at least ten (10) years of experience in the practice of microbiology
  6. Must have accomplished or undertaken at least ten (10) of any combination of the following:
    1. Improved/modified procedure (i.e. assay) used in the company. The company should be implementing the improved/modified procedure.
    2. Solved through research, microbiology problems of the company
    3. Introduced applicable new microbiology processes to the company
    4. Developed, tested and registered products that are currently commercialized or sold in the market
      Note: Certification by the company on items 5a to 5d must be forwarded to the Accreditation Board
  7. Must have garnered at least two (2) national/international professional awards in the field of microbiology. For awards that are ranked, only first placers are considered. University/ Institutional awards are not categorized as national awards. Five (5) publications in ISI-indexed journals can be used to replace one of the required national/international awards.OR
    Must have been given at least two (2) rank promotions by the company due to accomplishments in the field of microbiology (duly certified by the supervisor).
  8. Must have attended at least three (3) PSM annual conventions in the last five (5) years. One of the three required PSM annual conventions attendance can be replaced by attendance in two cluster symposia or two regional symposia or conventions.
  9. Must be nominated by a PAM member in the criteria in the accreditation program for diplomate

Note: certification by the company on the veracity of the submitted documents regarding items 5a to 5d must be forwarded to the Accreditation Board.
